There will be a one-day AKC herding test and trial at Valdemar Farms in Ft. Lupton, CO., on Monday October 4th This farm was the location for the BCCA herding test and trial in 2004.
The following will be offered: A course started, intermediate, and advanced (both sheep and ducks); B course started, intermediate, and advanced (sheep only); herding test and pre-trial test. Carol Hartnagle will be your judge.
A BCCA instinct test will be offered for a limited number of entries immediately after the completion of the AKC event.
Valdemar Farms is a short 45-minute drive from the Host Hotel.
Note: Valdemar Farms will accept anyone who wants to do some practice runs before the trial on Monday. Cost is $20.00. Contact Renee Jarrett, Herding Chair, for more information at razchaunce@aol.com or 970/667-8293.

Herding Meals
You can make your reservations for herding event meals on the Master Order Form.
There will not be a Herding Dinner this year. There are several wonderful restaurants near the hotel if you want to make plans on your own.
Breakfast Buffet
Plan on having your breakfast at the Herding venue!
A complimentary cold breakfast buffet, offered by Pam and Arnold Morton and Judi and Mike Thorup, will begin before the first runs and and conclude at 10:30 AM.
Your breakfast buffet will include: assorted juices, fresh fruit, assorted breakfast pastries, bagels w/cream cheese, assorted yogurts w/granola, assorted energy bars, and assorted cheese stix.
Complimentary coffee (reg and decaf), assorted teas and hot cocoa as well as bottled water will be available all day.
Brown Bag Lunch
Brown bag lunches ($10.00, available by pre-order only) are served from 10:30 AM on and will include choice of sandwich from the list below. Lunch also includes potato salad, fresh fruit, cookie, and choice of assorted soft drinks and iced teas, plus mayo and mustard packets.
Sandwich Choices:
- Turkey, provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce on wheat bread
- Ham, swiss cheese, tomato, lettuce on rye bread
- Roast beef, pepper jack cheese, tomato lettuce on sour dough bread
- Tuna salad, provolone cheese, tomato, lettuce on wheat bread
- Veggie, pepper jack cheese, tomato, lettuce, sprouts, cucumbers, bell pepper on wheat bread
Additional soft drinks and ice tea will be available on-site for $1.00.
Orders must be placed by September 1, 2010.

Rates are $39.99 for single and $ 59.99 for double. They would offer 10% discount if multiple rooms are booked.

Super 8 Motel, 15040 Brighton Rd., Brighton, CO (303)659-6063. This hotel is closer, but check re. dog policy. They weren't clear regarding their acceptance of dogs over 40lbs.
